[ when prax arrives the door slides open for him automatically, a nosy pitbull there to greet him enthusiastically. I KNOW YOU HI HI. and frank just gives him a look in greeting, stepping back so prax can nudge past the dog. ]
( ordinarily, max's greeting would be enough to distract prax from whatever is on his mind because the dog is still such a novelty — but today, plants are on his mind and his focus is near perfect. he smiles down at max and mutters a brief hello but doesn't crouch down to pet max. he also only mutters his hello to frank.
[ he nods, leading the other man to the bathroom, max following after them. it's a tight squeeze to get them all in there, but frank crams himself into the furthest wall so prax can take a look inside the shower. 6 baby bud plants of peace lily are sitting there, as well as 6 aloe that look just as young. ]
Spathiphyllum! And aloe vera! ( there's something genuinely delighted in prax's tone. in his expression, too, as he takes in the plants, crouching down and reaching for one of the peace lilies, touching a small leave with careful fingers. )
[ he scrubs a hand over his head and looks at the plants. it's good they're here, but how do things keep showing up? frank couldn't sleep through someone bringing a fucking nursery into his shower. what gives? but prax seems happy so he pushes the paranoia away and resigns himself to doing whatever needs to get done. ]
( they probably shouldn't stay in the shower stall, that's right. )
We can put them in my room for now. I already have something better in mind, but I need to check something first. ( the hydroponics haru showed him aren't his, after all, though he expects she won't mind. )
[ he nods as holds out his arms for prax to load him up. he can carry like 5-6 plants at a time no problem and they're just going down the hall anyway. ]
( frank holds out his arms and prax starts handing him plants, his fingers sure and steady now that he's touching greenery. more sure and steady than he's felt in a while, really. )
Thank you. ( he says after frank's arms are all loaded up. ) For calling me.
[ he nods, that's the point, right? he stops at prax's door and waits to see if it's open and will let him in automatically or if prax has to unlock it. ]
We all have different... skillsets, right? We have to apply what we've got. Yours just might keep everyone alive, too.
( prax unlocks the door quickly enough, the ability to juggle arms full of plants and keycards a skill he mastered years ago. which perhaps means that frank's comment about skillsets may not be entirely inaccurate. )
...It's gotta be, right? [ no choice. he follows close on prax's heel and puts the plants where he's told. ] I'm gonna go get the rest. Max, you stay here.
[ it's conversational like he's talking to a person instead of a dog, but max sits in understanding and looks up at prax. guess you're his best friend for as long as it takes frank to get down the hall and back!! ]
